Autoerotic Internet

An appeal

mjoa:

If there is one thing we all owe ourselves, our children and the evolution of our species it is this: We must not allow corporate and government powers to regulate, censor and otherwise control the internet any further then they already do.

This is more important than you may think.  Reflect for a moment on how this has happened with every form of mass media before this (print, radio, television) and how this has impacted our societies and the sharing of information.  Reflect again on how an essentially non-regulated internet has acted as an accelerant to our evolution even though all can publish their conflicting ideas and beliefs freely.

I beg you to engage with and inform yourself of the issues surrounding this in the media today and to make it a priority to make your voice heard.  Vote with your dollars and vote with your ballots.  Write and petition political and business leaders to ensure they know what the majority really wants, and will not accept. If rally and peaceful protest is called for then do what you can.  If you were to only ever do one thing that I ask of you I hope this would be it.  I realize that you may not see things as I do and make the same points I would but this is what I am, in part, actually arguing for. Ultimately I have faith that if everyone makes themselves heard the things I want to see protected will be protected.

Crucial decisions about an emerging, global, mass media technology are being made, and will be made, in our lifetimes.  We are living through a major shift in the evolution of our species due to the complex tools we have created.  Tools that have given all of us power.  Power requires responsibility.
