Audio Uploads
Yo tumblr folks, what is a good website to upload audio a la tumblr, to link to so’s I can get around the one audio file per day restriction? Something simple and minimal in design, preferably, so I’m not linking people to an addfest?

“I have been - and always will be - your friend.”
Loads of folks suck at playing the guitar, but Joy Division did it and bands still do it and they will continue to do so—because it’s a viable artistic medium. Yeah, some times people suck at art. So they don’t become ingratiated into the canon as something to emulate. It’s no reason not to try. That’s… That’s what art is, damnit.
That blowjob is a perfect example of consumer culture, but some times some of this “art” that I keep talking about gets filtered down and sold as valued content, including contemporary pornography. I’m sorry it wasn’t a picture of the Eiffel Tower or the Queen Mother, but that shit sells because it’s a successful transaction between the piece and the observer—that’s art. And black and white is classy as hell on top of it.
And I guess, as an observer, I don’t really find that black and white being classy is fresh anymore. As far as I’m concerned, in my lifetime it stopped being classy sometime in my youth, and probably stopped being classy to me in terms of looking at something in its own time-context past the mid to late 80s (obviously there are exceptions past that, but I’m talking in general). It just became a thing to look classy not a classy thing. Those are different, and I don’t really like the former. When art tries, I acknowledge that without a thousand efforts, there wouldn’t be one great piece…but the efforts are still just that. Efforts. Not that by their nature as efforts it invalidates them, some art is great because of that (sometime by intent of the artist, sometimes not), but I don’t think that by making something black and white, you are going to insta-classy it.
- You are allowed to say “I don’t think black and white is classy.” Your opinion is formed over the years of your life and we all try to understand and respect each other’s opinions.
- You cannot say that a transparent effort doesn’t deserve recognition as artistic. If there is noticeable effort, it has worked to some degree. If it works at all, it qualifies. Recognizing that a blowjob portrayed in black and white is trying to be classy is acknowledging its artistic intent and establishing a platform from where your opinion can form. The damn B.J. is artistically elevated by the classic motif, whether you like it or not.
- And for heaven’s sake, Dave, no one knows they’re producing a “great piece.” Mona Lisa was a commissioned portrait, but it’s widely regarded as a work of genius. This is not atypical of a “great piece.”
Points taken. It’s all opinion. I guess my only question is, to you, is anything to which you apply a black and white filter automatically art? And if not, where do you draw the line?

Generic porn is unclassy, and if that was in colour, that would have been every third scene in every generic porno made after the late 90s/early 00s deepthroat/throatfuck craze.
This can be appreciated beyond its colour version because the medium of black and white brings with it a different perspective, one from a time when photography was a high art and not a consumer hobby.
But that mode has been used for fuck knows how long, to the point where it’s primarily an attempt to be obtuse or somehow above it all, or a fallback when your unique creative endeavours with photography don’t work out right, or when you’re afraid to do them, or don’t have any actual ideas.
And you can’t tell me that blowjob wasn’t a prime example of consumer culture with a veneer of “respect me as art” applied. Not that I don’t appreciate a good blowjob. Hells no. I loves me some cock-in-mouth.

Black and white = instant illusion of class on the least classy of things. But back in the day, shit was always black and white photography…I wonder at what point after the transition to colour photography that this became the case.
